What makes you right for this job?

Hopefully, before you are invited for interview, you will have recieved a detailed job description from the potential employer. You will have studied it and looked at how good a ‘fit’ you think you are for the position. This is important because at some point during the interview you will need to be able to convince the interview panel that you have the skills and experience necessary for this job. So, how are you going to do that?

You need to prepare the answer to the question ‘What makes you right for this job?’ The question may not come in exactly this format but the panel will certainly want to get this information from you.

In order to convince them, you will need to have a good understanding of what the position involves and what the responsibilities are. You will then need to be able to explain how your previous experience and your skill set make you suitable. This may be a step up in responsibility for you and you will have to convince them that you are ready. The answer you give will be slightly different in each interview as you will need to adapt it to match the requirements of each company. You will need to think about the vocabulary and phrases you want to use before you go for interview to make sure you are not searching for the right words when the time comes.
