August Coaching

The coaching in August is aimed at highly motivated business executives who want to improve their communications skills and confidence in English for business purposes. The small group coaching is for people who prefer to learn in this type of group setting, learning alongside other like-minded professionals but places are limited to a maximum of 6 participants for the 5 days. The planned dates for the week are 27 - 31 August 2018 - each day starts at 09:30 and finishes at 17:30. The coaching will take place at Davies Business English, Carrer Guillem Massot 56, Principal Derecha, 07003 Palma. We normally also spend time outside in Palma for coffee breaks and lunch and there is the possibility to organise excursions as part of the coaching, subject to agreement within the group.

How it works

Each person will work with their own Personal Accelerated Learning (PAL) Programme. It is a 4 step cycle where; 1) preparations are made and the personal needs are analysed and assessed, 2) personalised material is presented and learned, 3) it is then reproduced in a ‘safe environment’ such as role-playing, where mistakes can be corrected and then 4) put into practice in ‘real life’. An essential element of the system is the self-assessment of performance (what went well and what didn’t go so well) immediately after ‘real-life’ situations, in order to feed back into the system as the next preparation phase and therefore work on constant improvement. This can be supported by further coaching sessions if required but quick ‘problem solving’ support is always available via email or WhatsApp messaging.

The programme

The Coaching process starts with an initial 1 to 1 meeting (in person or online) to discuss the preparation phase.
Preparation starts with answering the following questions (there is also a video on YouTube to support this phase):
Why do I want/need to do this? Digging deeply into the motivations for learning.
Who do I need to communicate with? Analysis of the various personalities/nationalities/functions of others.
When do I need to communicate? Looking at the short, medium and long term - how long do we have to prepare?
What do I want to say? The personalised content.
How do I need to communicate? The various styles of written and spoken communication and the challenges of using the telephone.
Where will I be when I communicate? e.g. In the security of my own space or in a less comfortable situation such as when visiting others or even speaking in public and the implications on confidence and amount of practice required.

We also look at:
Strengths and weaknesses in relation to Business English communication and learning
Previous experiences which may cause barriers to learning
The process of setting targets and process goals.
Personal management in relation to tasks and time available.

Costs

The cost of the Business English Week is just 579.00€ (there is no purchase tax on English training in Spain!) per person and includes:
Initial 1 to 1 meeting (in person or online) to discuss the preparation phase
Coaching system PAL Programme, notebook, 4 colour pen and flashcards
40 hours (x 60 minutes) of personalised coaching within a group of 6 people (maximum)
Coffee breaks as a group
Lunch as a group
1 to 1 follow-up meeting (in person or online) to discuss progress and development
Continuous support via email and/or WhatsApp ‘hotline'

*Transport to and from Palma and accommodation in Palma are not included - we can provide a list of nearby hotels or you can choose your own. We recommend early booking during the summer holiday season.
