No matter what it is that you want to do, you can always find a ‘quick guide’ on how to do it better, faster, more effectively or more easily. The ‘quick guide’ may have 4, 6 or even 20 steps sometimes but the one thing that they all have in common is that they try and tell you how to simplify a process. There are so many things that we would like to learn, to be able to do better, to master even but identifying and defining the process is often the simple part. The bit that takes the time is implementing the process; doing the necessary work.

When it comes to implementing a process there are no shortcuts. If a process has six steps then a shortcut would take out some of those steps and then the process is not complete. If it isn’t complete it’s unlikely to work. So regardless of what the ‘quick guide’ says it will help you with, the true solution is to do the work. Now all we have to decide is what we want to learn.
